FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Contact: Christoff Marse
Dental Office Using Internet to Create TV Pilot
Dentist hopes situation comedy will change perception of dentists as horrible and sadistic.
Viewers will choose final scenes for pilot on Internet. Palm Harbor, Florida, May 14, 2010 - Everyone remembers Steve Martin's portrayal of a mad dentist in the movie Little Shop of Horrors and Laurence Olivier as the ruthless dentist in Marathon Man . But, can you remember a good, kindly dentist in a movie or on TV? No? Well, that may change. Dr. Edilia Glenski, a Palm Harbor dentist, and Christoff Marse, a local actor, are developing a TV situation comedy that they hope will change people's perceptions of dentists. Glenski explains, "There are so many medical shows out there now - Grey's Anatomy , Private Practice - and the doctors are always these nice, benevolent people. But there are no shows about dentists and people have this concept that we're horrible and sadistic." Their sit-com, This Bites , is based in a dentist's office and Marse, in the Seinfeld mode, will play the dentist, the sane, straight man to an office full of wacky staff and patients. In a twist, Glenski will be one of the administrative staff. The vision for the show is to make dentists likeable and approachable and, perhaps, even suggest to people that it might be time to see a dentist themselves. Hoping to eventually attract a producer with a big budget, the two, who are also husband and wife, are taking advantage of the Internet to create their pilot. Through www.thisbitestv.com , they are collecting auditions from local actors and non-actors to complete the cast and further their story lines. Auditions are still open in case you have a funny story or monologue about a dentist's office. They are also looking for local people with lighting, directing, producing, and sound experience. Go to www.thisbitestv.com for more details. Marse and Glenski have already started filming and the plan is to put the scenes up on the Web site and allow people to vote for the best scenes and actors. That input will be used to finalize the show's pilot. Neither Marse nor Glenski are new to the entertainment field. Marse has been acting for over 27 years and has appeared on TV, in movies, in a Broadway play, an off-Broadway play and several theatre productions. Glenski, who is writing the script for the pilot has been a practicing dentist for over 28 years, but she's been acting since she was seven and writing since she was nine. She recently produced two screen plays for the 2010 Sunscreen Film Festival in St. Petersburg, has hosted a TV show in California and was a disc jockey in New York. # # #
